Such a sweetheart.

So sad when I  first heard that you had passed.

I am so sorry to hear you won't be joining us. Maybe in spirit?

I don't remember Marla from Millikan but I do from Stanford.  We sat across the aisle from each other in English and would talk before.class.  She had a great smile and a quick wit as we bantered back and forth.  It saddens me that she survived so short a time.

marla used to wear a huge fuzzy coat. And she had snacks in her pockets that she fed it. So sad. But this one I've known about for years, the heartbreak is gone. Hope her little sister survived it.  The other memories I have are probably way too improper to put up on print. Marla would just laugh but that was her.she also had a unique trick. She could make her hands and the bottoms of her feet sweat on command. It was amazing.

I was close to Marla for a year or two after we both graduated in January.  I’ve always found it strange that her death is listed as 1971 in this forum.  My memory is that I last talked to her by telephone in 1972 or 1973 when I lived in Hollywood and she was staying in San Pedro.  When I returned to LB in 1974 I called her mom and was told that Marla had died 6 months before, a week after being severely injured in a motorcycle accident in Sault Ste. Marie.  A couple of years ago I tried to verify that, but could find no evidence.  Faulty memory?  It was the first time someone close to me had passed away and I remember walking in the Long Beach night, my tears making the streetlights distort and sparkle and the sadness and emptiness of knowing we would never meet again.

Note: a day or two after I made this entry her picture was moved to the 1974 group. I don’t know who made the change or if the editors found that they had committed an error with  their original data.

Thanks Roger for the info on Marla. I always wondered why she died so young. We lived on the same street  and at the 10 year reunion I was shocked and very upset to learn she had passed away so soon. Such a pretty girl and wonderful personality.
